KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The feds are urging people to apply for millions of dollars in tax credit money. The IRS is making the funds available to eligible families and individuals.

The Earned Income Tax Credit Program gives people who qualify up to $5,800 on their tax returns. The IRS estimated that 20 percent of qualified people don’t apply for the credit simply because they don’t know about it.

“There’s help, there’s assistance,” said Jason Wood with the KC Cash Coalition.  “If you qualify you can get your taxes prepared for free and hopefully get the credits and money that is owed to you that you’ve worked for  the year.”

There are 20 sites across the metro where you can get help filing for Earned Income Tax Credits. Click here for tax information from the IRS’s website.
