KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Closure of the right lane of northbound I-35 at 27th Street begins early Saturday morning and will kick off a season of highway repairs in and near downtown, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

The right lane of northbound I-35 at 27th Street will close from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday for barrier removal in preparation for bridge deck repair/replacement scheduled to start next week.

In addition, the left lane of the ramp from Southwest Trafficway to northbound I-35 also will close during the same hours on Saturday.

Work begins Monday on northbound I-35. The left lane of northbound I-35 will close at Cambridge Circle from 8 p.m. Monday, then the two left lanes will close from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, for pavement marking.

The Penn Valley ramp to northbound I-35 will close Monday night through December.

In addition, a lane of the ramp from Southwest Trafficway to northbound I-35 will be closed during construction.

Similar lane closures and reconfiguration to southbound I-35 lanes begin Wednesday night  into 5 a.m. Thursday.

The Broadway ramp to southbound I-35 will close Wednesday night through December.

Once the pavement marking reconfiguration is complete, two lanes of traffic for both northbound and southbound I-35 will be maintained through December, with occasional additional nighttime lane restrictions for concrete pours, moving barriers and striping during subsequent construction phases.

The weekend closures precede a spring, summer and autumn of work that begin next week with two narrowed northbound and southbound lanes from about Cambridge Circle to north of West Pennway.
