LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — The Assistant U.S. Attorney calls a former Lee’s Summit soccer coach a “danger to society” after he was arrested when police say they found secret recordings of girls, ages 11 and 12, naked in his home.

Joel White, 41, faces child pornography charges after authorities say he secretly recorded girls changing clothes at his home. Some of the girls he’s accused of videotaping while undressing at his home were members of the soccer team he coached — and friends of White’s own 12-year-old daughter.

Neighbor Heather Dhyne said she witnessed late night pool parties with young girls at White’s home.

“I thought it was kind of strange that he would be out there with all these young girls,” she said Dhyne.

In 2007, White was charged with trespassing at a Johnson County tanning salon. However, the charge began with accusations by a female that White was secretly videotaping her.

“Just a few minutes of checking would have indicated this man was not suited for coaching young women. Now we have many young women suffering. It’s very disturbing,” said Terry Whitmarsh, another parent.

The Lee’s Summit Soccer Association released a letter stating that White was properly screened and passed multiple background checks that contain local, state, and national offenses against children.

White faces 15 to 30 years in prison if he’s convicted.
