A man who was arrested for stripping down at an airport is now speaking out against the TSA.
The federal agency fined John Brennan $1,000 for bearing it all in a security line at PDX in Portland.
On April 17, 2012, TSA agents found a presence of nitrates on Brennan’s clothes, so he decided to strip down to show them he had nothing to hide.
A TSA agent patted him down after he declined to stop into one of the body scanners or go through a metal detector.
Brennan said he was just fighting for his constitutional rights. On the video footage of the incident, within minutes of his stripping down, police show up and arrest Brennan.
“I was protesting their invasion of my privacy, my fourth ammendemnt right and I felt I was assisting them in showing them that I was not carrying explosives,” he explained. “I’m not suggesting we get rid of security. I’m just suggesting that they’re going too far in what they’re doing.”
Last July, a Mutnomah County circut judge dropped the criminal charges against Brennan, saying he was exercising his free speech.
