KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Some good news for one of Kansas City’s furriest famous faces.

“Nikita’s TLC is working!” said Randy Wisthoff, CEO and Executive Director of the Kansas City Zoo.

Nikita is currently off exhibit and is being treated for a gastrointestinal problem.

The zoo issued the following statement Monday evening:

“He is definitely getting stronger, swimming more regularly in his very own bedroom spa and eating a bit more food. While some test results are still pending, we are not able to draw a conclusion to his illness but we know he is further down the road to recovery,” the zoo said.

“We are extremely happy for this. Our teams of professional veterinary staff and Zoo keepers are keeping very close tabs on every action. He is getting the very best care possible. We appreciate everyone’s well wishes and for those suggestions of BIG bowls of chicken noodle soup. If only it was that simple. Thank you again for caring about Nikita.”

His companion, Berlin, remains on exhibit.
