McMINN COUNTY, Tenn. – A Tennessee man landed behind bars after police searched him after he reportedly handed them a “Pay Day” candy bar instead of his driver’s license. WBIR in Knoxville reports that officers responded to a 911 call about a possible drunk man in a vehicle at a gas station.
When officers made contact with Travis Giles, 35, he initially didn’t respond. Officers then asked him for identification and Giles subsequently issued them the candy bar.
Police then patted Giles down and found two bags of meth and a syringe. After that they asked him to take off his shoes, he proceeded to grab the meth and took off. His freedom was short-lived, an officer tased him about 10 feet away from the original crime scene.
Giles has been charged with a felony drug violations charge, and misdemeanors for evading arrest and unlawful drug paraphernalia according to McMinn County Sheriff’s jail records.
