KANSAS CITY, Mo. — So you think your dog can jump? A lot of people took their dogs to the Independence Heartland SPCA Shelter to find out the answer to that question Sunday.
Dogs from MO*KAN Dock Dogs launched into the air Sunday. They competed in big air, vertical jump, and timed retrieval categories, and showed the crowd how it’s done.
During the benefit for the shelter a few of the rescue dogs tried their luck as well. Turns out, Lottie the dog was a natural, and after she took her first jump, she could hardly be kept out of the water.
Trainers say if you have a dog that is very toy motivated and not afraid of the water, than you may have a future Dock Dog on your hands.
“It can be anything from your lap dog like Wilber, and Martini is a dachshund.
We don’t discriminate any breed any mixed breed anyone is eligible to come give this a try,” said Lori Glover, Vice President of MO*KAN Dock Dogs.
The Independence shelter ran a 50 dollar special for all dog adoptions for Sunday, and fees for all cats were waved due to the shelter being so full.
