KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After reinspecting the restaurant on early Friday afternoon, the Kansas City Health Department cleared Arthur Bryant’s on Brooklyn Avenue to reopen at its leisure. Its doors reopened to a line of people at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The staff at Arthur Bryant’s had corrected all violations and went beyond what they had to do according to health department spokesman Jeff Hershberger.
The restaurant had been battling a pest problem. The KC Health Department received a complaint about a pest issue about a week ago at Bryant’s, and during an inspection, it found numerous violations. Two reports revealed over a dozen violations including numerous critical violations.
Some of those included dead mice seen in a spring loaded trap of a catering storage room, multiple live roaches with egg sacks on the back side of an ice machine, employees using tobacco in areas of exposed food and food warmers and not heating ribs to proper temperature.
Some of these violations were corrected on site, but Byrant’s voluntarily shut down to correct the others. Hershberger said the restaurant had “submitted a very detailed and corrective plan detailing the work they have done and that they plan to continue doing.”
