KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Federal prosecutors have charged a man who brought a gun inside Manual Career Technical Center on Wednesday.

According to court documents, the man has been identified as Ronnie B. Brim, 30. Prosecutors charged him with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

At about 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Brim tried to enter the technical center with a backpack and when security searched it, they found a gun.

The school district said Brim fled once they found the gun. He left on foot and was not caught. Security recovered the backpack and weapon and turned the items over to Kansas City police for a follow-up investigation.

According to court documents, the security guard new Brim because she used to work security at the high school where he once attended. In addition, several items in the backpack had information identifying Brim.
