KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are still trying to figure out who killed a young mother and her three-year-old daughter in their home in late August. Wednesday would have been the little girl’s fourth birthday, and even though she’s dead, the community is still celebrating with a party.

The party isn’t only being held to remember Damiah White, the little girl whose life was cut short, but to keep her murder fresh on the community’s mind. The hope is that someone will come forward with

“Some are very scared, some are angry and hurt and it’s a painful thing to have lost a loved one or a child and for the killer to be walking the streets, possibly looking you in the face,” AdHoc Executive Director Bryan Dial said.

Today’s birthday party is being held just a few blocks from where 28-year-old Myeshia Turner and White were murdered on August 23rd. Someone entered their home at 55th and Wabash and killed them, but police still don’t have a suspect in custody.

“There have been few that called that have come in and say who they think committed this crime, but we need for more people to come and step up and say that, ‘I know he did it and I’m willing to testify against this individual or individuals,” Dial said

Dial said the need for more information was an incentive for them to throw a party on the day of what would have been Damiah’s fourth birthday.

Attending Wednesday’s birthday party are Myeisha and Damiah’s friends and family members and also neighbors who are outraged that no one has come forward with tips for the police.

“We hope someone will see this and attend this event and it will touch their hearts. We have a baby killer on the loose. She was three years old and we need to get this cold-hearted individual off of the streets,” Dial said.

The lone survivor of the brutal attack was Myeisha’s one-year-old son, Denim White. Police said he was found crying uncontrollably.
