OVERLAND PARK, Ks. — The fall is the start of many things, including garage sale season.
Plenty of garage sales can be seen throughout the metro, but in Overland Park there was an annual garage sale with a culinary twist.
There were hundreds of cookbooks, kitchen sets, dishes, and gadgets to buy and all of the items being sold were donated. The proceeds from the sale go toward training low income students to work in the restaurant business, and also benefit the Kansas City food circle.
“The KC food circle focuses on connecting organic producers who grow local free range food with area eaters. We help the folks looking for local and organic food find and help support the farmers who are working really hard with their small family farms to produce local and organic food,” said Emily Akins of the KC Food Circle.
A full stove and a vintage vita mixer were among some of the bigger ticket items that could be found at the sale.
