KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Garrison Keillor is the host of National Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion. Most people know him as a celebrated radio host who has been on the airwaves for almost 40 years. But he’s also a novelist, a songwriter and now he’s written a book of poetry.
His new book is titled O, What A Luxury: Verses Lyrical, Vulgar, Pathetic & Profound. He writes—with his characteristic combination of humor and insight—on love, modernity, nostalgia, politics, religion, and other facets of daily life. Keillor’s verses are charming and playful, locating sublime song within the humdrum of being human.
Keillor appeared on Tuesday’s FOX 4 Morning Show to talk about some of the places he wrote about in his book (including Kansas) and what he would like to do next.
You can meet Keillor at his book signing at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Unity Temple on the plaza. Just go to http://www.rainydaybooks.com/ for more information and to register.
