KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Police aim to protect and serve. Sometimes that means coming to the defense of animals.

Kansas City, Kan., police officers responded to multiple calls Wednesday morning concerning a six to eight-point buck in a parking lot near 78th and State Ave. Callers feared the deer had been injured.

When police arrived they determined the deer was fine but had taken a liking to the parking lot. Police spent several minutes trying to usher the deer to run into a nearby wooded area for its safety.

FOX 4 viewer David Bray happened upon the scene and provided the pictures you see in this story.
