KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A 24-year-old mother who tried to drown her two young daughters, ages one and four-years old last April pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of attempted second-degree murder.

The plea comes after an agreement with prosecutors, who in exchange for her guilty plea, amended the charges against Johnna Green from attempted first-degree murder to attempted second-degree murder.

The prosecutor and Paul Morrison, Green’s attorney, said they will recommend a prison sentence of 9 years and 10 months.

Green will be formally sentenced on February 28.
