MISSION, Kan. – A jogger was taken to an area hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Saturday.

Just before noon on Saturday, Mission Police responded to a call about an injury accident that took place near the intersection of Shawnee Mission Parkway and Lamar.

According to a press release issued by the Mission Police Department, the victim was a male jogger estimated to be in his fifties. Police said the man was headed southbound on Lamar while crossing the crosswalk at Shawnee Mission Parkway when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

The jogger suffered lacerations to his head which required stitches, and also a broken leg. The person driving the vehicle was a female estimated to be in her thirties. She was not hurt in the accident. The jogger was transported to a local hospital for further treatment. On Saturday afternoon, his condition was reported as fair.
