MUNDELEIN, Ill. – A 14-year-old girl has been charged with first degree murder after allegedly stabbing her 11-year-old sister to death inside their home on Tuesday morning.

According to WDAF affiliate WGN-TV in Illinois, the teenager is accused of attacking and stabbing her younger sister as she slept in her bed at their home in Mundelein, Ill.

The report said Lake County Juvenile Prosecutors said the girl allegedly attacked her sibling with a kitchen knife because she felt unappreciated.

The 14-year-old was said to have made the 911 call reporting the incident to police, and at first told police that an intruder was responsible for the attack, but later confessed to the crime.
