EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. — FOX 4 spoke to the mother of a stabbing victim on Wednesday, about the violent attack on her daughter, which happened earlier this week.
Police say early Monday morning Kristen Mascari’s 43-year-old daughter, Tiffany Yelton, was home alone asleep and her two middle school aged children were in school, when a hoodie-wearing intruder climbed through a rear bedroom window and got inside the family’s home.

Neighbors say once inside, the young intruder broke a whiskey bottle he found in the house and repeatedly cut Tiffany on her face, neck, arms, hands and legs.
“It’s a miracle my daughter’s alive. He was within an inch of her jugular vein, “said Mascari about her daughter’s attacker, as she fought back tears. “She’s real sad right now. She has 40 stitches on her neck alone. Not to mention the stitches she has all over her face and the doctors had to cut off her ear, only to reattach it.”
“My daughter’s in a lot of pain and so sad because she’s been in that house for five years and she really doesn’t want to move, but she’s going to because she and the kids are so afraid,” added Mascari, who said she went to the emergency room immediately after she got the call informing her of the attack.
“Tiffany said to me, Mama I have never seen him before in my life,” she said.
Neighbors say after the brutal attack the intruder ran away on foot. Wednesday a spokesman for the Excelsior Springs Police Department told FOX 4’S Robert Townsend that detectives are still investigating. They said they haven’t named anymore persons of interests and haven’t named anyone as a suspect in connection with the stabbing attack.
“She’s definitely a fighter. She was between the front door and the front porch crawling out and blood was streaming everywhere as she tried to get away from him, but he kept pulling her back into the house. This is a very dangerous man. Tiffany says he’s young, probably no more than 19 years old,” said Mascari.
When asked what she would say to the intruder if she had the chance, this is how she responded.
“If I could see him face to face, I’d tell him I can’t stand you. You have no idea of the hate in my heart for you. At the same time, I need to pray for you because you definitely need help, “said Mascari.
Nena Wheeler, Yelton’s aunt, also spoke to FOX 4 on Wednesday and said her niece is blessed to be alive
“Oh I definitely know the angels were with my niece. I told her I said if the Lord hadn’t been with you, you would’ve been gone,” said Wheeler.
