1. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (R)
Paramount Pictures
RUSS
Excessive, vulgar and depraved, “The Wolf of Wall Street” comes close to celebrating the very corruption it supposedly is lampooning.
SHAWN
“The Wolf of Wall Street” is just plain tacky. Mediocre Scorsesee that’s almost a self parody of the filmmakers previous work. Excessive, repetitive and completely missing any kind of moral compass.
RUSS
Leonardo DiCaprio is fine as a real-life corrupt stockbroker, and the rest of the cast is strong, too. Martin Scorcese’s direction is sure handed as always, but the three-hour movie is overlong and repetitive. It’s Scorsese’s weakest film.

2. SAVING MR. BANKS (PG-13)
Walt Disney Pictures
RUSS
The bumpy road to bring “Mary Poppins” to the screen is the focus of the sweet and sentimental crowd-pleaser, “Saving Mr. Banks.” The performances of Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson are a big reason why this movie works.
SHAWN
Old school and sentimental. Terrific performances by Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson. But the multiple flashbacks drove me nuts and completely slowed the story down to a clumsy crawl.

3. DELIVERY MAN (PG-13)
DreamWorks
RUSS
Vince Vaughn stars in the genial comedy, “Delivery Man,” a remake of the 2011 Canadian movie, “Starbuck.” Vaughn plays a middle-aged slacker who discovers that, as a sperm donor, he’s fathered over 500 kids. It’s a sweet-natured flick that abandons modern cynicism in favor of old-fashioned sentiment.
SHAWN
So awful. So unnecessary. So Vince Vaughn which is a synonym for ‘we seen him do this lovable slacker thing a thousands times before.’ Grow up already and make better movies.

4. WALKING WITH DINOSAURS (PG)
20th Century Fox
RUSS
Great visuals and an uninspired script make the prehistoric animated flick “Walking With Dinosaurs” a mixed bag. Kids may like it, but it may be a bit too scary for some of the very young.
SHAWN
It’s nearly impossible to make a bad movie with dinosaurs but they did it.
