In a special presentation, the University of Kansas Cancer Center received $65,000 from the Head for the Cure Foundation on Friday.
That’s 20 per cent of its KC 5K Run proceeds, which had a record turnout last year with more than 5,100 participants.
Most proceeds from the Head for the Cure 5K go to the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative, but last year the Head for the Cure board of directors committed to granting the 20 per cent to KU Cancer Center to demonstrate Head for the Cure’s support. In 2013, Head for the Cure granted a total of $375,000 to the BTTC.
The KU Cancer Center is now one of 23 ‘high-profile’ hospitals that are part of the Brain Tumor Trials Collaborative research network.
