LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. — There were a dozen confirmed cases of victims who were shot at over the past couple of weeks by the same highway shooter according to police. Thursday night those people are relieved that police believe the person behind the trigger is in custody.
FOX 4 spoke to a man whose car was shot at twice. Tom McFarlin was driving on Interstate 470, it’s a route he takes every day to work when the bullets hit his car.
He didn’t even realize until he got home and saw the damage. Luckily his children weren’t with him, and for the past couple of weeks he’s tried to avoid driving with them in the car in this area.
Now he’s happy to hear he can let go of that fear.
“I’ve seen reports where they did have their kids in the car. There’s no telling what could happen. Luckily nothing too terrible that I know of happened; it’s just a relief that the person doing this off the road,” he said.
KCPD officers announced, in order to keep everyone’s peace of mind and ensure safety, they will continue to heavily patrol highways for the time being.
