RAY COUNTY, Mo. — The Ray County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Tuesday night that an inmate who escaped and had been on the run since Saturday has been caught. Jeremy Glenn Miller is in custody, no other details about his capture have been released.
Authorities said Miller had worked his way into the Ray County Jail attic from his cell, crawled across the attic and down through the garage to temporary freedom. They said Miller pried open a metal plate to get into the attic.
He had been in jail for violating his probation stemming from a suspended jail sentence of six years after being convicted of felony property damage. He had satisfied 14 months of probation before pleading guilty to another felony for tampering with a motor vehicle. That probation violation is what landed him back behind bars.
Then, while in jail, he was charged with another felony for damaging the jail. Instead of possibly serving another five years for his probation violation, Miller could be facing up to 26 years now.
