OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — An area of Oak Park Mall is flooded after two water lines broke early Wednesday morning. Some areas saw two to four inches of water.
According to Johnson County Fire PIO Julie Harper, water poured into the lower level of the mall, located at 95th and Quivira in Overland Park. Thirteen stores were impacted. The major stores that were affected include Barnes and Nobel, American Girl and 5 Guys. Several hallway kiosks were also affected.
The lower level on the north side of the mall is shut down. Early mall walkers were still able to use the facility.
The mall is expected to open at 10 a.m., however a portion of the lower level will likely need to be avoided while crews continue to clean. All areas of the lower level are expected to open later Wednesday afternoon.
The cause of the water lines breaking is under investigation.
