KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed on Monday what most Chiefs fans had feared. Both linebacker Derrick Johnson, and defensive end Mike DeVito have been lost for the season with injuries to their Achilles tendons. Both players were injured during the first of Sunday’s 26-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans.
Johnson’s loss may be especially disturbing to Chiefs fans. Coming off his third straight pro bowl season, Johnson needed 19 tackles this year to become the team’s all-time leader in career tackles.
Reid said replacing Johnson’s talent and experience won’t be easy.
“You know my theory on that. He’s a great player, but I expect other players to step up and do the job. When given the oppurtunity we want that to happen”, said Reid.
