KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The U.S. Marine Corps band plays numerous shows during the year, but Monday Night Football at Arrowhead might be their biggest.

Fifty members of that military contingent will be on hand to begin the game with our national anthem.

The Marine band, led by conductor Bryan Sherlock, will begin the festivities this evening.

That musical ensemble spent its morning rehearsing at UMKC’s School of Music, practicing alongside many of the school’s students.

Interestingly enough, Gene Simmons, Rock-and-roll Hall of Famer and local restaurant operator, was also scheduled to perform the anthem.

He and the Marines say when Simmons heard about the Marine’s involvement, he stepped aside giving the Marines the stage to themselves.

Students at UMKC told FOX 4 it was almost intimidating rehearsing with the Marines because their skill level is so high.

Chief Warrant Officer Sherlock told FOX 4 he’s hopeful to end up on national television, along with the Chiefs and Patriots.
