KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Police are investigating the death of a three-month-old baby boy in the 6000 block of E. 31st Street in Kansas City, Mo.
Police said they received a call about a deceased person at the Arrowhead Inn Hotel at 5:15 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene they discovered an infant had died.
The hotel’s desk manager told FOX 4 News around 5:15 Wednesday morning he noticed a commotion in the hallway on the security monitor. He said he saw adults and a baby in the hallway.
“I was on duty, I heard some yelling, I looked on the video cameras — there was something going on down the middle of the hallway,” John Kekoa, desk manager, said. “When I got to the scene there was a baby that was unconscious and no responding to anything that we were trying to do to it. Nine-one-one was called and they basically took over from there.”
Adults who were staying in the room told police when they woke up they found the baby unresponsive in his car seat.
“There was nothing that I think anybody could do,” Kekoa said of the baby.
The cause of death remains under investigation.
Kekoa said the couple lived at the hotel and have one other child. He said the parents work hard and are “very nice people.”
“This place is a stepping stone for a lot of families, and it’s just a tragedy that this happened,” Kekoa said.
