OLATHE, Kan. — In Wyandotte County on Thursday, the prosecutor asked a judge to increase the bond for Dennis Clark, 47, a male nurse charged with four counts of sexual battery at Providence Medical Center.
The assaults allegedly occurred at Providence Medical Center from December 2013 through May 2014, when the patients were coming out of anesthesia and under Clark’s care in the post-anesthesia care unit.
The judge agreed to increase the bond from $10,000 to $75,000 after the prosecutor argued that the list of accusations against Clark is growing. As FOX 4’s Shannon O’Brien has previously reported, authorities in Overland Park and Olathe are investigating Clark, who worked at Menorah Medical Center, 5721 W 119th St, Overland Park, from the year 2010 until 2012.
Others, including at least one of Clark’s neighbors, have reported that they also experienced Clark’s inappropriate behavior.
Frances Cross says she was friendly with Clark and his wife when they were neighbors in Edgerton. She said they had fire pit parties, and at first she thought everything was normal.
Then that changed the day she was leaving home for her aunt’s funeral. Cross says she saw Clark standing in his driveway.
“You know how neighbors always wave at each other. I just waved at him and for whatever reason I glanced back and he was exposing himself,” Cross said.
She says she tried to convince herself that she didn’t really see what she thought she saw, and says she came home that evening and tried to shrug it off with him.
“I just kind of played it off and said, “Yeah, I saw you,” she said.
She filed a report with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and says she later discovered another neighbor had a similar story.
“We were sitting around the fire pit one evening and my neighbor said something to me about it and I told her you need to file a report because it happened to me and I said we’ve got too many kids in this neighborhood for this to be going on,” Cross said.
Clark is scheduled to appear again in front of a Wyandotte County judge on December 30.
