OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Teens across the metro have a chance to watch the movie “Selma” for free Monday at Cinetopia in Overland Park thanks to a former Chiefs player.
Linebacker Shawn Barber says he got together with some business owners and local church leaders to provide free seats for the students.
Barber says the day off of school is a perfect opportunity for kids to learn more about Martin Luther King, Jr., the Civil Rights Movement, and the power of a vision.
“I want these kids to know it only takes a second to have a vision, and if you surround yourself with the right type of people anything can happen,” said Barber.
The free tickets are available to any kids age 17 and under across the metro for any showing of the movie ‘Selma’ at Cinetopia in Overland Park.
