EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. — The search for a rape suspect turned into a fight involving over 150 of the suspect’s family and others at a Clay County park on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s office, deputies acting on a tip arrived Tryst Falls Park near 92 Highway and RA Highway around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday looking for 32-year-old David W. Busick of Excelsior Springs, who was wanted on a Clay County felony warrant in connection to a 2014 statutory rape case.
Authorities say that when deputies arrived in the park, Busick fled the scene on foot. Shortly afterwards, a fight broke out in the picnic area of the park involving over 150 of Busick’s family and other unknown individuals. Neighboring law enforcement agencies then arrived on the scene to assist the Clay County deputies, including the Kansas City Missouri Police helicopter.
There were no arrests or injuries reported in the disturbance. Authorities say that Busick was later apprehended by Clay County deputies in the area of NE 144th Street and Old Quarry Road.
