KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An employee at Kauffman Stadium is making a name for herself by sharing a smile and a warm welcome to every Royals fan she encounters.
Marge Wolfer joined the Royals family three years ago as a greeter near the home plate gate and she’s never looked back.
“It’s baseball, it’s family,” Marge said of her job.
Her smile is always big and her energy is contagious – making Marge one of those people you feel like you’ve known forever.
She hugs fans, laughs with them, and makes personal connections, remembering little details about their families and favorite players.
Marge is such a standout, she won the All-Star Award this season, which is an honor voted on by her co-workers. Marge is flattered by the recognitions, but said that’s not why she does this job; To her, it’s all about the making the fans feel at home.
“When they walk through the door,” she said, “I want them to feel excited because it’s a place where we’re going to have such fun: family, hot dogs, peanuts, and excitement! It’s just the thrill of it all! It’s just fun! It’s a fun job!”
