KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The trial for a Kansas City woman charged with locking her daughter in a closet and starving her continued Wednesday.

During day three of the trial, a 12-year-old girl took the stand. The little girl was only eight-years old when her mother was arrested and charged with starving her sister, who is only referred to as “LP” because she’s a minor.

The girl described the apartment the family lived in, the closest LP  was forced to stay in, and how her sister had to “use the restroom on herself” in the closet.

Jacole Prince faces charges for depriving her 10-year-old daughter of food.

All of Prince’s children are currently living with foster families.

Wednesday marked the first time the 12-year-old had seen her mother since the arrest. She stayed strong during questions from the prosecutor, but when Prince’s attorney asked questions about Jacole, her father, Marcus, and how they treated “LP,” the girl stopped and grabbed a tissue to wipe away her tears.

The girl also told the court that a shoestring tied the closet doors closed, and a crib full of stuff was pushed in front to keep LP inside.

FOX 4’s Megan Dillard will continue to provide updates from inside of the court room.
