KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Residents in a Waldo neighborhood say they’ve been living in fear, and as they watched SWAT teams raid a nearby home, they say their fears came true.

Police filled a block and set their sights on a home near 75th and Grand. Inside, officers found property stolen from around the neighborhood.

The man who lives in the home was arrested but bonded out of jail. Now neighbors, who wanted to keep their identity private say they’re terrified in their own homes.

The sounds of flash bangs filled the Waldo neighborhood when SWAT officers raided the home. Neighbors watched from their yards as police hauled out bags full of stolen property. Police say they found three stolen cars, bikes and a trailer. Neighbors say they noticed the man who lives in the home would park cars around the neighborhood, but never in his own driveway.

“They had a lot of people coming in and out from the back of the house,” said one woman. “To have such a great neighborhood with such great people then something like this happens, it just scares everybody.”

Neighbors say suspicious men would case their homes, forcing them to get alarm systems and barricade their doors at night.

The man who lives in the home was arrested, but bonded out of jail on Friday. He sat on the curb and watched as detectives filed in and out of his home, bringing out bags of stolen stuff. While neighbors are relieved police took action, they say they won’t feel safe in their homes until the person responsible is behind bars.

Police say the man who lives in the home should be officially charged next week.
