LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Kansas Jayhawks were unable to pull out another come-from-behind finish on the court on Monday night, losing to Kentucky 67-59 in the NCAA men’s basketball championship game in New Orleans.

But police in Lawrence say that Jayhawk fans, for the most part, remained calm following the game. Authorities say that there were a few incidents, but nothing like the scene in Lexington, Kentucky, where celebrating Kentucky fans set numerous small fires, and one person was wounded by gunfire.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, police say that they could not locate the gunman, who disappeared into a crowd. The victim was taken to University of Kentucky Medical Center in serious condition.

Police in Lexington handed out numerous citations for alcohol-related offenses, and dozens of people were arrested for charges like criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and setting fires, the Courier-Journal reported.

Authorities say that 25 people were taken to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
