DALLAS — Tornadoes ripped through the Dallas-Fort Worth area Tuesday afternoon, tearing through homes, tossing trucks and sending thousands for cover.
The National Weather Service office in Dallas/Fort Worth showed a banner across the top of the screen with the warning: TORNADO EMERGENCY! TWO TORNADOES ARE CURRENTLY AFFECTING THE DFW METROPLEX. TAKE COVER NOW.
According to CNN, one tornado was spotted on the ground five miles east of downtown Dallas. All flights at Dallas-Fort Worth airport and Dallas Love Field airport were grounded.
At 3:30 p.m., the website read:
SEVERE WEATHER, INCLUDING THE THREAT FOR DAMAGING TORNADOES REMAINS FOR THE EASTERN HALF OF NORTH TEXAS THROUGH EARLY EVENING.
Officials did not have information about injuries or deaths. The Associated Press reported that residents were seen walking down the streets with firefighters, looking into homes and assessing the damage.
