remains1KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are conducting an investigation Wednesday after remains were found in a dumping site.

Police were dispatched to the area near 28th and Highland around 10 a .m., after a city cleanup project came across what they described as human remains.

Police tape could be seen marking the area off and at least 10 police cars could be seen on the scene.

Kansas City Police spokesperson Darin Snapp confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the remains found are indeed human.

Police said there was nothing at this point to determine a cause of death.

FOX 4 has a crew on the scene and will be adding new information as it becomes available. A few hours after the Kansas City, Mo., investigation began, Kansas City, Kan. Police Chief Terry Zeigler tweeted that human remains had been found in KCK at Walcott Drive and Interstate 435 by a mushroom hunter. The two investigations are not connected.
