KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Public Schools are investigating claims of racial slurs and inappropriate comments allegedly made towards members of Lincoln College Preparatory Academy’s girls’ soccer team. The school district says that all games scheduled between Interscholastic League schools and Lone Jack have been canceled through 2016.

A news release from the school district says that while the Lincoln Prep girls were playing a soccer game at Lone Jack on April 7, fans in the home stands made inappropriate remarks directed at the team. The release says that Lone Jack’s coach attempted to stop what was happening.

Officials at the Jackson County school say they haven’t verified any cases of Lone Jack students using slurs.

KCPS says it will continue to work with neighboring school districts to ensure that all students are treated with respect during extracurricular activities.
