KANSAS CITY, Mo.–The Kansas City School Board took part in a special meeting of clarity with the state on Monday. Dr. Christine Nicastro spent one hour discussing what she calls “key issues.”
Nicastro told the board that student growth and improving student achievement in the classroom must be the goals of the Kansas City teachers, administrators and board members if the district is going to regain its accreditation after a takeover in January of 2012.
She also stressed the state has not determined if any school board members will lose their jobs at the time of the takeover.
Nicastro insists giving students the best education is their top priority.
Some parents left Monday’s meeting disappointed because they were unable to speak.
The school board will hold a public meeting on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Paseo Academy located at 4747 Flora in Kansas City, Mo.
