JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — Johnson County has an outbreak of whooping cough. On Friday, the health department said there have been 83 suspect, confirmed and probable cases so far this year, and that new cases are continuing to be reported. There have been 18 new cases just since Tuesday.
Children’s Mercy Hospital says it’s shaping up to be a bad year in our area for that bacterial disease. FOX 4 Medical Reporter Meryl Lin McKean says they’re urging vaccination for children and adults.
