KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Here’s some All-Star news… straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak!

Kansas City, Missouri police say they will be using mounted patrols to help them with security during this summer’s All-Star game.

With thousands of people coming into town for the event, police say they need the extra presence and the unique perspective that the horse-manned patrols provide.

“The size– They can be seen from long distances. We can see long distances so it’s a different type of presence,” said Sgt. Joey Roberts with KCMO Police. “Any big event like this police presence is everything.”

Nine horse/rider patrols will be stationed throughout the area.

The patrols train all year-long and were on-duty most recently at the St. Pat’s Parade and Rockfest. Roberts says the horses have been trained to not be spooked by large crowds.
