FORT RILEY, Kan. – A Fort Riley Soldier was killed by enemy forces July 3 in eastern Afghanistan.

Pfc. Cody O. Moosman, 24, of Preston, Idaho, died in Gayan Alwara Mandi, Afghanistan, when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was an infantryman assigned to the 1st Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kan.

Moosman joined the Army in October 2010 and arrived at Fort Riley in April 2011. This was his first deployment.

Moosman’s awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist Badge.
