KANSAS CITY, Mo. – We’ve all seen those commercials for the prescription herpes management drug Valtrex. Well, a new You Tube video, that likens Facebook Timeline to genital herpes, has gone viral (pun intended!).
In the video, Timeline users say hilarious phrases like “All my friends had it. I thought I was protected.”
One woman says,”No matter how safe you are, you will get timeline.”
“At first I didn’t know what it was; it just looked different,” says another.
Meanwhile the parody’s narrator says, “Experts predict that within the next two weeks, over 500 million people will have timeline, whether they like it or not.”
But, the video says, there is a fix – real life. It encourage folks to disconnect and get out. Do yoga. Frolic about. Have a dinner party. Though, as the narrator state, these activities don’t come without risk:
“Side effects of Real Life may include sunburn, fatigue, hangovers, stalkers, bizarre behavior, rug burn, uncomfortable social situations, exaggerated reflexes, splinters, impulsiveness, restlessness, internet withdrawal, uncomfortable poking and herpes.”
Critics scrutinize Facebook Timeline because they say it allows access to too much profile information, and puts the users’ privacy at risk.
Timeline replaces users’ old profile pages and organizes all of the info on the new profile in a manner similar to the timelines we all made in our elementary American history classes.
Right now, Timeline is optional, but once Facebook users make the switch, they can’t go back to the traditional structure.
