OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Santa came to spread some holiday cheer on Wednesday at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s Neonatal intensive care unit.
Rob Holcomb, M.D., Neonatologist at OPRMC NICU, reprised his annual role of Jolly Old St. Nick and collaborated with Overland Park-based, and nationally-known NICU photographer Jessica Strom took pictures in order to bring the spirit of the season to families with critically ill infants in the NICU.
Tiny Santa hats were distributed to each preemie as Strom captured priceless photographic family mementoes.
“The holidays are one of the most poignant times for families to have babies in the NICU,” said Director Margaret Meier. “Overland Park Regional Medical Center’s NICU and its physicians and nurses take the tiniest and sickest of these babies and nurture and nourish them, and part of that mission is to minister to the families, creating positive, lasting memories for them and their families, especially during the holidays. Santa’s visit is one way to give hope to families going through the difficult journey.”
Overland Park Regional Medical Center is part of HCA Midwest Health, Kansas City’s leading healthcare and Neonatal care provider in the region.
