KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The scams have been popping up pretty much since the Affordable Care Act has been announced. Many of them come by way of your phone. Some of the calls may not be scams. They could be from insurance companies that are looking to help sign you up.
The Kansas Insurance Commissioner says you just never know, so it’s recommended that “you” initiate the process by contacting someone you know you can trust.
You’re urged to be careful about the personal information you give out. You should also never be rushed to make a decision. Get all of the details by asking a lot of questions, and make sure you verify the answer you’re given.
“There are a number of folks out there that have been trained and I would want people to make sure they’re working with someone who can demonstrate that they’re legitimate,” Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger said.
