KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center serves many low income residents on Kansas City’s northeast side. Its neighbor is the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, an osteopathic medical school. Now they’re becoming partners. Seven doctors who teach at KCUMB will provide some of the care at the health center.
“It’s a great opportunity for Missouri’s largest medical school to start to have an impact in our own neighborhood,” Dr. Marc Hahn, KCUMB President, said.
“The partnership will afford us the opportunity to expand upon the number of slots, appointment slots that we’re able to offer on a day-to-day basis,” Ralph Caro, Samuel U. Rodgers, Chief Operations Officer of Samuel U. Rodgers, said.
The health center should be able to add 200 appointments a week. Medical students will also get clinical training at Samuel U. Rodgers. It’s been a decade since doctors from KCUMB practiced on the northeast side. They will continue to have a clinic in south Kansas City.
