If you drink enough soda, your teeth could look like that of someone who uses methamphetamine, a new study published in the journal of the Academy of General Dentistry says.
The author says he’s not trying to scare soda drinkers, rather tell of the “striking similarities” between those who drink a lot of soda and those who have used meth or were crack addicts.

The study follows three different cases: a person who used meth for three years, someone who used crack cocaine for 18 years and a third person who said she drank two liters of diet soda for three to five years.
Even if you’re not a self-described soda addict, dental erosion can happen to people who drink more than the “recommended intake” of one 12-ounce soda a day.
The American Beverage Association disputes those claims, however, telling NPR “The body of available science does not support that beverages are a unique factor in causing tooth decay or erosion.”
