OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — There’s just about every type of summer camp for kids. One in the metro is giving great attention to the issue of attention. Children’s Mercy Hospital is holding an 8-week day camp for kids with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD. It’s really an intense treatment program in which counselors make expectations clear and then provide constant feedback.
Points are awarded for paying attention, following rules and contributing to discussions in an appropriate way. FOX 4 Medical Reporter Meryl Lin McKean takes us to this camp that’s one of only a handful in the country devoted to ADHD treatment.
