KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Japanese culture continues to influence people around the world with their food, music and art.
Fran Lemery, the executive director of the Greater Kansas City Japan Festival, appeared
on Monday’s FOX 4 Morning Show to talk about the festival and the influence of
Japanese culture on American society.
Appearing with Lemery, were Erica Koinke, the owner of Sama Zama and Earle
Brigance, a local Japanese sword expert.
Also appearing on Monday’s show was the group Three Trails Taiko made up of Keiko Okada Brown, Kazuyo Holland and Damon James. They demonstrated the jaw-dropping, difficult and athletically-demanding artforms known as Taiko drumming. You can watch a sample below.
The Greater Kansas City Japan Festival will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
on Saturday, Oct. 5 at Johnson County Community College. Advance tickets are
$10 for adults and $5 for kids.
