KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Avoiding nature deficiency disorder is not a medical term, however more and more children are growing up without a connection to nature.
Many blame it completely on technology. Others say it’s all about balance.
The Barstow School’s Kellye Crockett appeared on Wednesday’s FOX 4 Morning Show to talk more about what we can do to find a balance between technology and nature.
Crockett made these suggestions.
- Turn off the screens
- Let boredom in
- Give kids permission to explore
- Find nature in your neighborhood
There are two great websites that Crockett recommended — Hit the trails in Kansas City
and the Community Gardens and the Beanstalk Garden.
