Monday has been named the Day of Positivity, in honor of The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge out of Water, which is a day dedicated to seeing everything in a happy, fun and positive way! On January 5th, families from local charities will be treated to a free showing of The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004), and encouraged to proclaim how they will make 2015 a positive year.
Here’s the thing– every New Year’s resolution is made with the unspoken expectation that honoring our resolution (losing weight, meditating, exercising, being nicer, etc.) will somehow make us happy. That’s backwards. We need to focus on being happy.
And, what’s the best way to be happy? Be positive. But, being positive doesn’t mean being all excited about airy fairy ideas of how things can work out. The word positive simply means “present” just like the world negative means “absent.” When we are positive, that is, we focus on what is present (the thousands of blessings we all take for granted) rather than negative focusing on what’s lacking, we are happier.
The result– a HAPPY new year as a result of being positive–noticing and being grateful for what’s present rather than griping about what we think is missing.
On Monday January 5, 2014 at 6:30 p.m. Union Station will be showing the 2004 SpongeBob SquarePants movie.
The event takes place at Union Station`s Extreme Screen, which is located at 30 West Pershing Road, Kansas City, MO 64108
Soak up the happy on the day of positivity!
