The old saying, “The early bird gets the worm,” always holds true.  So if you’re not thinking about getting your kids into all of those summer activities, you may already be too late.

The Family Conservancy’s Meg Fuehne gave some tips on how to prepare to make sure your kids stay active during  the summer months.  She appeared on Tuesday’s FOX 4 Morning Show.

Structured summer activities

  • Help kids stay active
  • Expose kids to new friends, experiences
  • Help transition from school structure
  • Make summer more enjoyable for whole family
  • Break up the monotony for your child

Tips to keep in mind

  • Give a light structure to the day
  • Keep kids interested, but not too structured
  • Consider a camp experience
  • Try a library summer reading program
  • Check out park and community recreation centers
  • Search “School’s Out” guide in libraries or online
