INGREDIENTS:
- 4 C. – FLOUR
- 4 TSP. – BAKING POWDER
- 1 TSP. – SALT
- 3 HEAPING TSP. – BASIL
- ½ TSP. – BLACK PEPPER
- 2 TSP. – NUTRITIONAL YEAST
- 2/3 C. (10 TBSP.) – EARTH BALANCE SHORTENING
- 1 C. – FOLLOW YOUR HEART CHEESE – SHREDDED
- 1 ½ C. – SOY MILK
- 1 TSP. – MUSTARD
1. Preheat oven to 425 F.
2. Whisk together the dry ingredients.
3. Cut in shortening with pastry blender until coarse crumbs form.
4. Add shredded cheese to flour mixture and stir in.
5. Add Soy milk and mustard and knead until dough comes together.
6. On a lightly floured board, knead gently 5 or 6 times and then divide in half. Flatten ball until it is about ½ to ¾ inch thick. Cut each half into 4 pieces.
7. Lightly spray baking sheet with oil, place scones 1 inch apart.
8. Bake, checking at 13-15 minutes until scones are brown on top and the sides have firmed.
